Lead by Programme Director Veeshayne Patuwai, the Urutapu Team are the engine room of the programme, ensuring a functioning and effective organisation. The team bring a variety of experiences, each with expertise in the not for profit sector as well as Māori development. Based in their Auckland offices in Glen Innes, these mana wāhine are passionate for the cause of Urutapu which leads to an exciting working environment.

Veeshayne is the director of the Urutapu Tamāhine Programme with years of experience in community development. Prior to her career in the not for profit sector, Veeshayne was an award winning media personality, most notably for her time at MaiFM. She uses her experience from the fast paced media industry and her current work in community development to ensure Urutapu is a relevant, powerful programme for our future tamāhine leaders. Veeshayne has been married for ten years, with four beautiful children and enjoys surfing and knitting.  

Helen Clarke

Operations Manager

Ngā Puhi
Helen was born and raised in the Hokianga, and has worked a diverse range of roles across the Education and Health sectors. Her passion lies in community development, specifically Māori development that draws on traditional indigenous knowledge. Helen coordinates the entire Urutapu logistics and operations and is an invaluable part of the Urutapu team. When Helen isn't working with us, she is working in the disability sector and spending time with her two beautiful children, and her beloved fur baby! Helen loves travelling and is a big fan of classic cars, classic motorbikes and old furniture - she enjoys restoring old things to their rightful beauty.
